All the properties are in an advantageous position being close by many historical towns with an abundance of wine caves where very good wines can be bought at reasonable prices. Bordeaux is 1.5 hours drive away where there is a wealth of shops and museums, the park and ride tramway makes everything accessible. The west coast can be reached in about two hours, where your body board is a must for those Atlantic rollers.
MonsegurMonsegur is the nearest market town, with a lively market every Friday morning. It is one of many Bastide towns found along the Dropt valley, and dates back to the 13th Century when its original charter was drawn up, and is to be found in a book called Esclapot the first entry being in 1265. There is evidence of the age of the town in many of its buildings and a peaceful walk round the ramparts is a reminder of its strategic position. The town has a full range of shops and markets as well as a cinema and an annual jazz festival. You can visit the local wine producers and historical monuments, there is also a public swimming pool and facilities for tennis, horse-riding, cycling, fishing and golf as well as an excellent range of walks.

St Emilion
|
St Emilion is known world wide for its wine but there are more than just wine caves to be found in and around the town. The town dates back to the 8th Century when a Breton Monk called Emilion lived as a hermit in caves in the forest that covered the hillside where now the town perches. Certainly a must to visit when in the area, but some of the streets are not for the faint hearted. |

EymetEymet is a pretty market town on the edge of the river Dropt. It serves the surrounding community with a thriving Thursday morning market and during the summer a Tuesday night market. |
